What is this tool used for?
Use this tool to find how much electricity your appliances use in a day before planning a solar system. It is useful when you do not have a representative electricity bill or want to separate essential appliances from the rest of your home.
How to use this calculator
Add each appliance, then enter its quantity, electrical watts, daily operating hours and duty cycle. Use measured values where possible; duty cycle is the share of operating time during which the appliance draws the entered power.
Understanding your results
Daily kWh helps size solar generation. Connected kW shows the running power if every listed appliance is on together; it does not include starting surges. You can pass the load to the complete system calculator.
Common questions
Is a watt calculator the same as a kWh calculator?
Watts measure power at a moment; kWh measures energy over time. This appliance tool provides both connected running watts and daily energy. For a solar calculator, kWh demand helps size generation, while simultaneous power and startup surges determine inverter requirements.
Can I include lights when planning solar power?
Yes. Add the number of lights, electrical watts per light and hours of use to your appliance list. For a standalone solar light with its own panel and battery, this estimates only the lamp energy demand; it does not verify the built-in battery, charge controller or manufacturer runtime claims.

Nameplate wattages are starting points. Refrigerators and inverter ACs cycle or vary their power: use measured average energy or an appropriate duty cycle. Starting surges are not included in connected load.
How should I enter an air conditioner?
Use its electrical input watts, not cooling capacity or tonnage. Adjust duty cycle for actual operation.
