How to use this calculator
Enter panel count, panel length and width, an access and spacing allowance, and usable roof area. Exclude portions of the roof you already know are unavailable.
Understanding your results
Panel surface area and the larger planning allowance serve different purposes. Compare the allowance with usable roof area, but do not treat a positive balance as proof of fit: roof shape, shading, access and structural checks still determine the layout.
Common questions
How is this different from the Google solar calculator?
Google's Project Sunroof uses roof imagery and local weather patterns to estimate a property's solar potential. This solar roof calculator uses the dimensions and available area you enter. It does not inspect satellite imagery, detect shade or produce a property-specific roof design.
Is this a Tesla Solar Roof calculator?
No. This tool calculates a space allowance for rectangular solar panels using the dimensions you enter. It does not design a solar-tile roof or calculate Tesla Solar Roof pricing. For a product-specific roof assessment, use the official Tesla service; do not treat a panel-area estimate as a solar roof tile quotation.

This conservative planning allowance is not a geometric layout. Tilt, row-to-row shading, obstacles, setbacks, roof shape and structural capacity require site-specific checks; an area match does not guarantee the panels fit.
Does enough area mean installation is possible?
No. Roof loading, usable dimensions, shading, access and setbacks can still limit installation.
