Can I estimate backup time for a portable solar generator?
For a battery-based portable power station, the same energy-versus-load principle can provide a rough estimate if its rated battery energy, usable capacity and conversion losses are known. Use bank voltage and Ah that represent the same battery capacity, and check the unit's own continuous and surge limits. This tool does not model simultaneous solar recharging.

This is an energy estimate for a steady load. Lead-acid discharge-rate effects, aging, cold temperatures and BMS shutdowns can shorten runtime. No solar charging is assumed.
Why is real backup shorter?
Battery capacity decreases with age and temperature, and high discharge rates can reduce usable lead-acid capacity.
