What is this tool used for?
Use this tool for a preliminary DC cable voltage-drop check between equipment locations. It helps compare a proposed conductor size with an acceptable drop target.
How to use this calculator
Choose conductor material and enter operating voltage, current, one-way cable length, maximum drop percentage, conductor temperature and the proposed cable area. Enter the one-way length; the calculation already includes the return path.
Understanding your results
The required conductor area addresses voltage drop only. A cable meeting this result may still be unsuitable for current capacity, installation conditions or protection. Final selection requires those separate checks; this is not a three-phase AC calculator.
